WHAT IS THE 5-DAY GAJETA FALKUŠA EXPERIENCE?
It is an experience of living in harmony with the sea, set on Vis Island—the most remote inhabited island in Croatia. For centuries, the local people of Vis have maintained a deep connection with the sea, respecting nature and its rhythms.
This 5-day unique program offers a full immersion in local traditions, embracing all aspects of life on Vis Island. Participants will explore its rich cultural and natural heritage while gaining a deeper appreciation for the fragility, sensitivity, and beauty of the Vis archipelago.
The program is conducted in small groups, ensuring a personalized and authentic experience, with a maximum of 8 participants.

You will explore an area with the highest concentration of protected natural monuments and landscapes in Europe—Vis Island is home to seven. In 2019, the Vis archipelago was recognized as part of the UNESCO Global Geopark network.
By preserving and sharing the story of the gajeta falkuša—a vessel that sustained a small island fishing community for centuries—we safeguard our cultural identity and contribute to both national and global maritime heritage.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM?
Daily sailing on the historic boat gajeta falkuša
Hands-on participation in preparing traditional local meals ( 5 meals included)
Fundamentals of traditional sailing, such as navigation, seamanship skills, and handling the lateen sail
Exploring significant landmarks of Vis Island, including the volcanic islet of Brusnik, Biševo Island, and the northern and southern coasts of Vis.
Practicing traditional maritime skills, including knot tying, handling ropes and tools, learning about boat components, and understanding nature
Facende of Vis Island – engaging in the island’s rich storytelling tradition, rooted in its fishing culture, featuring humorous tales of everyday life

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Accommodation is not included and must be arranged individually. However, we will assist you in finding accommodation. If you are staying outside Komiža, we will provide free daily transport to Komiža. Entrance fees (of any kind) are not included in the price.
